The Forbidden Forest from Woodhouse on Vimeo.

Look at the effect of this video. I like these beautiful scenes.
This is what I find to add in my AD105 project. I have some scenes like falling flower, smoke, blur image and so on. I know that can make effects in After Effect softwave . Even though I have no idea about the softwave , I can deal with it and this project is great opportunity.

Last weeks I have not done lots of work. Three modules in the same time make me confusing. In addition this is the last week before X-mas holidays , so I made the detail plans for each module.
For AD105 module, I have to be done all assets. This is include :
- Pose to pose assests
- Expression

For AD102 module, I need to borrow some books for reference . Because I'm little bit confuse to write a report, and I'm not really sure about the content of the report.

Last week summery

Actually, I've done my assets and character design, because I found out that it has more work than I thought. In order to make the movement I have to create more assets to do pose to pose.
In addition, this is cut-out animation so scenes are not like what I see in storyboard (from previous module).   I have to create more layer in foreground to make the scene of character walk in water. One more thing is that all background assets need to fit with each other about style, texture.

Timetable for this week (from 29/11/2010)

Monday: As I said in previous entry, I will create some details in background and finish them today. Because most of my scenes are similar background so I just need to create some detail and retouch the view.
Tuesday : work with Cinema 4D. I will do scene 1, see which have problems and fix its. I need to see how the character moves, how i can deal with Cinema 4D in order to make my project is cut-out animation like i want.
The rest of this week : I will done scenes 1- 6.

Hope I can complete the plan.

Last week summery

I've done my character and som scenes of background.
Then i tried first scene into Cinema 4D and saw a problem.
It's not really problem but I want to make my scenes better, so I will create some background details this week.

Weeks plan

Actually, I am not sure about what I wanna do in this project. I don't know if I should create new character and story for this project or not. Hence i look around my classmate and see they use their previous module to develop in this module. I already have some new idea, but I might come up late if I do something really new. In addition I am not satisfied with my previous module and it has not completed. Thus I decide to use the idea and character from my previous module and develop it in this module.
Now the first thing I need to do is that retouch characters and background in order to turn into cut-out animation.
And here is my plan for this week :
- Wednesday : retouch characters. I tend to add some texture and make characters look like cut out.
- Thusday morning : retouch background. It need to be bigger and split to some layers.
Hopefully I can come up on Thusday afternoon ...

The Art of Lotte Reiniger

I glad to find this video. It helps me understand the technique of cut-out animation.

Examples of Cut-out animation

The ending credits of Lemony Snicket's a series of unfortunate events

I have seen the movie but there is not anything impressed in me till I saw the ending credits. They're so slick, unusual and beautiful. They remind me of Shadow Puppets (Wayang Kulit). The designs of the characters are outstanding. The textures look like paper and fabric, some of sequences have a beautiful flat look.

The adventures of prince Achmed - LOTTE REINIGER

It's the typical example of cut-out animation. The author used black paper to create silhouette characters which have very beautiful and well refined shapes.

Jack and Beanstalk (1955) - LOTTE REINIGER

I want to take one more examples from Lotte Reiniger's work, because I like the background color of the movie. I tend to color up the background like this in my project.

Mother like no other - ZuneArt

This video is a short film created by French animator, Yves Geleyn.
