Time Plan.

It been such a long while since my last update. I feel so stressful these days because too much different works at the same time. It makes me mess around everything. So I think it's better to manage time, write down every single works I have to do.
So here it is:

  • AD207
    • Work related presentation: I am going to do it right after I am done updating blog and try to finish it in this morning.
    • My animation:
      • Scripts: I am done it but the story changed a bit so I have to fix it. It won't take 15 minutes.
      • Storyboard: It would be ashamed to say that I have not done storyboard till now but it's true, I just have drag storyboard. I think it will take me 2days to complete.
      • Characters: I can say that it done and hopefully it has no more error.
      • Backgrounds: I separated it to indoor scene and outdoor scene. 
      • Animation: It would be a nightmare with more than 20 scene.
      • Progress
    • Toy design Presentation
    • Evaluation: analyses what I've learnt in 2 academic years in 500 words. It will the last work.  
  • AD205
    • Portfolio
    • Write commentary of individual portfolio pieces
    • Showreel
    • A4 research file: research about different types of portfolio, showreel.
    • Evaluation of my portfolio and showreel.
  • ScS: I thought that I finished this project but not yet. They want to change something, no it's not a change, they want to make some more and it seem not really easy. I will try to figure out at the weekend.
Ok, that's all I can remember for now.

Bird and Balloon. ScS.

Well, I did not do much works for a week. The main reason is laziness, the other reasons is I stuck with ScS. I don't know what to do next. No, I knew it but don't know how to do and lazy for searching tutorial so I lost impetus for working.

I started feeling guilty for doing nothing. I decided to be back to my Bird & Balloon project this week.
After many hours feeling stressed out, I worked the beak of bird out. phewww...






I feel quite satisfied now but I should go back to ScS project. :)

AD206 and SCS

I was hand in MTV Ident group project then took a assessment week and I had a great opportunity to take part in a college work project. The project is about making training video for SCS company which produces carpet. Last week me, Sam, my tutor Paul and some other college men went to Wales to visit Carpet factory of SCS. The trip was more excited than I thought because I was so worry about what I can do in the project and this is a factory so it might be boring. However everything's going well, people in the factory are so nice, they seem very whole-hearted to explain to us how the progress of making carpet run. So now I can generally talk about how the carpet was made quite well ;) .

Back to school and got new module AD206 which related to AD207. In conclusion it's all for personal project which run during this year.

Hence, beside SCS project I have new module to work. It could be lot works and I have to try hard for some obviously reasons. SCS project is not my individual project, it effects to many people and I don't want to let people who believe in me down. For my college personal project, I really want to make at least one piece of work well done for the time I study here. I'm second year student, I couldn't study the third year in Newcastle college, so it is supposedly my last chance.

I sum up all works I have to do in order, then make a clearly plan.

AD206
- SCRIPT. done.
- SCRIPT TREATMENT. done.
- VISUAL TREATMENT. done.
- PROPOSAL
- STORYBOARDS & ANIMATICS. I was done a rough storyboard and animatic before so I just need to re-drawing storyboard without thinking and redo animatic in After Effects, last time I made animatic in Photoshop but couldn't zoom in or out assets.
- CHARACTER RE-DESIGN. It could be the hardest part or not. I'm not happy with my present character, I want to make it look like paper-craft character. It's just about modelling character, rigging would be same and I was done rigging and even though I have to redo rigging it's couldn't take long time.
- BACKGROUNDS. For the time of AD206 module I plan to design backgrounds of indoor scenes.
- ANIMATION. Just animated indoor scenes (from scene 1 to 5).

SCS
For the week my part is modelling 3 objects of tufting process. I will show it to SCS's man by Friday.

So from today to 2pm Friday is for SCS work.
Saturday I will write Proposal.
Sunday: Storyboard.

Group project: MTV ident

It's such a long time no update my blog. I really didn't have anything worth to update and I feel so lazy and  tired after holiday break.
However I'm back with an update about group project as I have to. This is the last week for MTV ident project. As every members in group I have to create a 3D character. It seem my only job for this project, so I try to do it best.
I finished to modelling, rigging and binding character. It is not perfect because I didn't make foot roll. I tried it but it didn't work, the feet was twisted after that. It was might caused the direction of foot null was not the same like it happened before with whole leg. I want to say thank Shaun for fixing my character's legs but I'm so tired of the problem so I didn't want to fix it anymore, I skipped the foot roll.
My character was complete supposedly. I did a walk cycle test below.

Idents - Group project

I'm doing group project. The work is about making 3 MTV idents.
We planed to create 3D character with 2D face. Everyone makes one own character.
I am almost done my character. I did modelling, rigging and binding but my character has error after binding, its legs were bended. The problem drive me crazy. Paul think it's about weight paint, then I should  redo bind. I'm still trying to fix the problem.

There's my music box.

I decided to delete link joints, make each body parts separated. It's might easer. 
I have to finish the character in the weekend then doing some line tests such as character walk because my group will do footage and the rest of work next week.

A week before deadline



Rigging was more complicated than I thought. I built a basic skeleton and change some things in character design such as adding foot and tail for the bird. Now rigging tail is my problem. I want it automatic move when the body moves. I found a tutorial about rigging a cat tail and I will do the same to my character's tail.
I have some paper works need to be done and still have two more character sheets.
So my plan from today till deadline is:
- Finish rigging, binding the bird at this weekend.
- Finish paper work and character sheets before Tuesday.
- Then from Tuesday: Animation and texture.

Few updates.
That's my first character is done so far.

The beak was made split from body and I will do morphing for the beak.








My targets for next week.
- Saturday 15/10: The bird modeling will be done. Look at the photo above i just need to make wings so i think it's not hard to get it done. The beak's bird is not complete so this is the second thing I have to be done on Saturday.
- Sunday 16/10: Morphing the beak.
- Monday 17/10: Modeling the balloon. Actually the balloon just have to create a face, because the body shape is easy. I wonder if making balloon face in 3D or drawing in After Effects or Flash.
- Tuesday 18/10: Rigging the Bird.

Ok. Just it for now.
- I have 2 model sheets have to finish. One about characters in scene and one about facial expressions.

AD208

After 4 weeks back to school, i didn't do anything much. I don't wanna excuse so I am going to speed up from now. Try my best for this year.

I have to say that I didn't finish AD203 yet. Some writing works and the second character sheet need few more to be done. I try to finish all of them this weekend.
AD208 module start this week. I was doing research about charater animation and this is some examples I looked at.

I do love this style. Absolutely brilliant! Much more brilliant when watching 'making of video'. It's clear my thoughts about how to create the style. I can see it mixing of 3D character and 2D in compositing but  I still wonder how the process is done exactly. Very thankful the guy who made video because of uploading it.

Timeline and animated so far!




I followed the guide Dave show me to do walk cycle. Move the foot controllers, foot rolls and pelvis controller to do walking movement on the spot in 40 frames then copy and paste key frame and move main controller, then my character walking.

Pictoplasma cont.3

Rilla Alexander
I like her work, her character walk but it was not really impressive. However her lecture was the most lecture I like and it's worth for me. I found an inspiration from her speak. I love the way she creates ideas. She does a lot of research, travel around, explore new culture, and she write down new ideas in her idea book, just like her character - Sozi. To end of her speak, she read her book for audience and she was like story teller with her all passion.


EL SENOR
To be honest, El Senor's lecture was not really good but his work itself was awesome and his sense of humour make the lecture was so interested. From the lecture I known his work and totally love it.
I had his sign in my Pictoplasma guide book. I am absolutely happy with it.

The Black-heart Gang
Ok. It is the artist I like the most in Pictoplasma. I was not satisfied with their lecture but still love their art work. I bought their book and read it and watched the movie many times after I was back from Berlin.

The tale of how
 Their style is not what I try to follow but I still love it in somehow. I searched some video of The Black-heart Gang on youtube and watched a Making of The tale of How. Their style is very specific and their method is well arrange.

The Missing Link show.
This is the last activity I attended in Pictoplasma and it's worth. I had so much fun here. The first time in my life I was going on stage, danced and became one of crazy people.
